If I wanted to see the Lorax, I'd buy a movie...
We’re big fans of the Amazon diaper subscription service. A less expensive way to get our favorite Seventh Generation diapers, we get a case delivered about once a month and don’t have to think about buying diapers when we run out, because we never do. However, I was disappointed to open up our newest batch of SG diapers this morning. In place of the natural, boring brownish diapers...

Connect.
I’m amazed by how easy it is, for myself included, to not give Gray the attention he deserves. There’s always an email coming through on my phone, or something that gives me reason to be distracted. But I think one of the single best things we can do for our kids is give them the respect you would give your contemporary.  So I’ve vowed to put down my phone, sit down with him...

The best kind of dream
One minute ago… Jackson: ‘Morning, Gray! Did you have good dreams last night?’ Gray: ‘YEAH!’ Jackson: ‘What did you dream about?’ Gray: ‘CHEESE! CHEESE ON TOP!’

Morning, sunshine!
I’m loving my thirty days of Naturopathica. Seriously. Of the products I’m trying, I start my day with two of my favorites. The Oat Polish is a light exfoliator. Again, I normally wouldn’t think to exfoliate every day, but I think it’s made my skin a lot softer and has done a great job of sloughing away 21 months of being a Mom and not taking the best care of my skin. I...

Holstein 'babies'.
**Hmmmm…this was a post from nearly two years ago, that for some reason reposted…? _________ Weird title, right? A month before my due date, I went out on an emergency call with my good friend who is a large-animal vet. Boy was that an education. She was responding to a panicked call from a dairy farmer whose prize cow had been in labor for days and wasn’t progressing.  As I...

Another Clementine?
Not sure if it’s been around for awhile as I just found it, but I love this website! The shop is built up of the owner’s favorite Brooklyn brands, and from around the world. Looks great, Darling Clementine! (p.s. of course my allegiances are to ‘my‘ Clementine)

A birthday present, ten months later.
My friend and coworker did the most amazing thing. Last year, for my birthday, she gave me a card that simply read: Three Hours of Free Babysitting. Could there be a nicer present to give a (newish) mom? Well, ten months later I took her up on it. Gray got to hang out at our house, play basketball, make pizza and read books with my friend and her daughter, while Jackson and I went out on a...

Oh, I get it.
Pregnant bellies and babies are in the air. Friends, coworkers, yoga buddies…everyone! As Gray’s second birthday looms near (HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?), our decision long ago that we wanted two kids is forever swimming through my brain. I bring up the idea, and timing, of Bundle 2.0 (should we be so lucky) often to Jackson, and am more often than not met with a nod (that’s it). I...

Pink nails does not a Valentines girl make me....
Last night I found myself with something crazy…twenty minutes of free time. So I sat down to paint my nails, pink, only to realize  that it was the eve of Valentine’s Day. Ironically Jackson and I decided, long ago, not to ’do’ Valentine’s Day. Instead, our goal is to do something, just us, around the same time so that we still have the chance to spend some time...

Ouch, heart. That really hurts.
Nothing breaks your heart like lying in bed listening to the littlest love of your life cry and shriek ‘MAMA!MAMA!MAMA!MYMAMA’ over and over. While I know it’s good for him to be able to self-soothe and get himself back to sleep, it is literally heartbreaking. And minutes before Valentines Day, no less. The child is strategic.

And suddenly...
…things change. We have what feels like five million major life decisions sitting in our laps right now, but one change that required no decision on our part but has been an unexpected shift has been life with Gray when we’re at home. Gone are the days where one of us needs to be glued to his side, to keep him out of danger, keep him entertained or just simply keep him. Suddenly, in...

Traveling Toddler.
In addition to the things I learned on our trip out, here are my takeaways from our return flights. If your child is under 12, they don’t have to remove their shoes to go through security. According to a flight attendant, they should always hand you an infant life vest before departure. Of our four flights, this only happened twice (you can ask for it). Always, always change your little...

Traveling With A Toddler.
We did it. Well, half of it. We’re on vacation, miles and several plane rides from home. What helped? Well I’ll tell you. Snacks, snacks and more snacks. Especially foods G had never tried before or were a big treat. Hiding some of his favorite toys and books in the weeks before our trip so that we could pull them out at choice times on the plane and he’d be happily...

Testing testing, 1 2 3.
I was flattered to be asked to try out some products for a green skincare line, Naturopathica. When I first wrote about it, some people thought it was spam, while others thought it was silly.  But me? I’m a recovering product junkie who is trying to simplify my life and skincare but who loves samples and good, clean care. So here I am, on day thirteen, and I’m in love. I’m...

aaaaaaaaaaaaah.
That’s a happy aaaaaah, not an AAAAHHH! I’ve given myself an unexpected break from writing…partly because being away from home means I’m without my computer and downtime to sit down and write because there are places to go and people to see. But also because it’s been nice to have a bit of a mental break and just enjoy each moment with Gray and Jackson and not be...
