'MYYYYYYY TRAINNNNNNN.'
Fully capitalized because the words were spoken at an all out scream about two inches from Gray’s little face.
We’re at the bookstore as it’s snowing (yeah!) but a bit cold to be outside and Gray deserved a fun outing.
I pulled into the parking lot with visions of Gray and I nestled into a big cozy chair by the fire, a pile of books by one hand and a steaming soy latte by...
Bring it on home.
A crazy thing happened this weekend…for 24 hours, it was just Jackson and I. And not only that, but we had a party, stayed out late, and slept past 6am!
I hesitated to start with that sentence, because it makes me sound like an ungrateful, delinquent mom. Which I really don’t think I am.
But, as other parents can relate, the moment you become a parent, your life is no longer yours....
Preg...
…not.
But it seems like literally everyone around me is. Everyone!
So many of omens overly ladies I went through prenatal yoga with (and whose kids are roughly the same age as Gray) seem to be bursting with little #2, friends, coworkers, you name it!
Basically the day after Gray was born people started asking when we were going to get pregnant again. Though I loved being pregnant and...
definitelyjennifer asked: toyconomy is a similar service, in case you were looking for more : )
Toyagroo? Is that you?
I loved reading about Toyagroo, an online toy rental site over on Darcy’s blog.
I’m always looking for ways to keep the clutter and craziness at a minimum in our house, and renting toys could be a great way to keep them moving through the house.
Flying with children.
Awesome blog, written by a flight attendant-turned Mom.
Good advice about what you need, making reservations, flying to different countries, how to handle connections, seating, car seats, and so much more.
As a flight attendant for thirteen years with two companies, I learned a lot about traveling with babies by just watching what worked and what didn’t with passengers, but the real...
Hug your little (rat) baby.
A little more love helps everyone.
Especially given this Duke study, that suggests that rat babies who received more motherly love were less inclined to do drugs.
Working + Momm'ing.
A new study offers good news for those seeking to balance work and family: moms who work outside the home are healthier and less depressed than moms who don’t.
Now every mom/parent is different, but for me this rings true. Though it was the hardest thing in the world to go back to work, I think I’m a better mom because of it.
And I love that Gray gets to have his own independent...
If only I could knit.
I wrote about these little guys before, wishing I could sit at home and knit them sweater after sweater.
Alas, capes/washcloths seem to be the extent of my knitting abilities, but I’m happy to see that others are more talented than me, and that these warm, sweater-wearing little penguins have been able to go home after the oil spill.
Babyli.st/holiday!
Have you checked out babyli.st yet?
If not, you should. It’s an easy way to share your child’s needs/wishes by congregating items from any website onto one wish.Plus, I was flattered to hear from the founder of BabyList that they’ve created a holiday site…much improved over the Amazon wishlist I had created to keep track of Gray’s wants and dreams (beyond...

Getaway, getaway, lickety split.
I have daydreams about going on vacation with Jackson.
With Jackson and Gray, but especially just with Jackson.
I can’t believe how much I took that for granted before G came along. True, it was all we knew and had nothing to compare it to, but every trip was so fun and carefree and easy!
I have big plans (in my head). A Caribbean island this winter, Paris this spring, the Greek Islands...
Just three things.
I’m grateful for so many things in my life. My family, our health, and the fact that I get to be a mom, something I’ve wished for my whole life.
I’m incredibly excited for this Christmas, as Gray is psyched about EVERYTHING (except mittens) these days, and like his mom seems to love all things Christmas, from Christmas songs to lights to, well, everything.
We’ve been so...
oneofourown asked: I'm sorry for your loss. your Grandmother sounds like she was an amazing person!
Diaper pail bags.
Awhile ago I asked if anyone, who was equally sick of ordering the diaper pail garbage bags, had tried just using regular ‘ol trash bags.
Wonderful R wrote back, saying:
That’s what we do, and it works great (as long as the lid is closed). Baking soda is a great idea!
We tried R’s advice, and it works! No more expensive specialized trash bag…we just use our regular...
Gray found my old train from back in the day. And the light switch.
*Video credit goes to Jackson.
Dear Gray,
I love that most mornings the first word out of your mouth is ‘CHEEESE!’
I love your bedhead. It is fuzzy and big and hilarious.
I love that you still pronounce your name with an invisible ‘D’….‘Daaaeeeehhh’.
I love that all dance moves originate in your right foot and raised hands/pointer fingers. You have serious rhythm, little man.
I love that you...

Oh, I see, that’s just one of those ugly parental life lessons rearing it’s ugly head.
Tonight, we made the mistake of casually bringing Gray along to my alma mater’s annual holiday party. We’re not talking ball gowns and caviar, but I wore heels for god’s sake.
We should have put two and two together…a loooong week (more on that later), close to bedtime and...
