ilovebean asked: We started using frozen pureed foods to mix with finger foods when Q switched over. Like, pureed peas mixed with pasta, etc. It's a little messy, but it helped to get rid of some (and funny to watch). Then, one day, she decided she stopped liking finger foods and wanted pureed again. Then she switched back. So don't worry, I'm sure you'll use it somehow. :)
Damn you, Stripes!
Do you have a little man and can you share my misery for how much harder it is to find cute baby boy clothes than girl clothes? We’ve pretty much resorted to stripes and plaid. You can’t go wrong…especially with stripes.
Next question: Have you heard about this great brand, Splendid Littles? It’s as cute as it sounds, and the best thing possible happened…they...

iPhones for toddlers...
You have got to be freaking kidding me.
Read this if you want to question what’s wrong with our world. I had the same reaction reading this as I’ve had watching that Sweet 16 show on MTV, where every single time the party girl/boy gets an insane party AND car. It’s ridiculous.

And then there were three.
I love Gray.
I love him so much it hurts.
There literally isn’t one thing I would change about my life (well, I’d love to work three days instead of four, and have six-pack abs, and I’d really love a big wrap-around porch with a porch swing…but I digress).
But here’s the hard thing about becoming parents…if you’re lucky, you marry your best friend. The...
Gray’s favorite food used to be avocado. Clearly that is no longer the case.
tupelohoney asked: hello! i wanted to let you know that madeline has been in swim lessons for months now and LOVES IT! she is totally obsessed and can kick and paddle, it's so exciting and lots of fun for the parents too... we've tried every group activity for infants and madeline clearly loves swimming more than anything else. as for proper swim attire, put him in the swimmers diapers- you may have an...
Ground meat...not yet.
I still can’t hit the ‘blend’ button, nor can I swallow my nausea thinking of pureeing meat.
So I really appreciated this advice from a friend who had the same reaction.
We had the same gut check with the recommendations to feed our baby ground meat. Just didn’t feel right. A like-minded friend recommended this book and it has been our bible.

socalledlife asked: Hi, I would check to see if the place requires a swim diaper, many of them do. That being said, they are definitely better for swimming as there is less material so when it is wet, it is less bulky. Also, I guess it is supposed to trap in any explosions or the like better than a regular diaper. Have fun!

avrilsmommy asked: Your son is adorable. :)
Love a quick mid-work-day trip to the doctor's.
Luckily, we were met with good news (and thank god G’s daycare is two blocks from my office and our doctor’s is less than 10 minutes away).
No ear infections, though one ear could be on the verge (please no, please no). And the perma-rosy-cheeks (that also look a bit like bruises some days)? The doctor was a bit baffled, though unconcerned.
He said that viral infections (like the...
Mmmmmmmm.
Gray’s loving all kinds of foods these days, but I can’t not give a heartfelt and loving shout out to two foods (not made by me) that are AWESOME.
It’s hard to even call them foods, as they dissolve almost instantly, but Baby Mum Mums and Happy Baby Puffs are fantastic.
Both melt quickly, and Gray LOVES them. We can give him the Puffs, or break up the Mum Mum crackers, and he...
aimers asked: How did you handle the transition for your dog when Gray was born? We have a 6 year old dog who, for the most part, thinks he is a baby and is used to being the center of attention. He's well behaved around kids (never snaps or bites) and seems to not even show any interest in them. However, I'm pretty nervous about how he'll react to us bringing a real baby home to live in March.
Food, food and more food!
It’s been a bit tough to find time to write…partly because life has been crazy and Jackson and I both spent the last 48 hours doubled over in flu-hell, but more because we’re working to keep up with Gray’s ever-expanding and insatiable curiousity of every food out there!
At month eight it seems like the world opens up to his little pallete, so (as evidenced by this Gray A...
Please, not another ear infection...
Gray’s tugging at his ears again, which I’m worried means another ear infection is imminent.
Please no.
Regardless, I found this article really interesting about what actually causes ear infections in their little ears.
itplaysprettyforbaby asked: How did you pick Grays daycare? Did you look at multiply places or just the one and what did you like about it that made it the right choice? I know that after my second baby is born, I'm gonna need to go back to work and I'll need to put my girls in a daycare and I guess I'm just looking for some kind of tips/advice/any help at all.. thanks!
Question to you...
For the last week or so, Gray has had perma-rosy-red-cheeks, and we can’t figure out why. Aside from being insanely cute, it seems a little strange as it looks like he’s always just come back from a run and has rosy cheeks.
We have an appointment next week with his doctor, as we think his ear infection may not have cleared up, so we’ll have a chance to ask then…but until...

Flu hell.
What’s the only thing worse than one parent getting the flu?
Both parents getting the flu.
Luckily, the only thing worse than THAT (Gray getting the flu) hasn’t happened.
Wednesday night I just did not feel right, went to bed early and woke up at 9pm and started throwing up…and literally did not stop until about 4am the next morning. For Jackson (who wisely slept in our guest...
So sad.
Vermont is a small state, where the Governor’s dancing moves and an electrocuted cow may be the big stories on the front page of our main newspaper…so when something really sad happens it’s hard to miss.
Yesterday at 8:15 in the morning, a 15-year old boy shot himself in the bathroom of his high school. It doesn’t matter where in the world something like this happens,...
Good Dad. Really Good Dad.
You know you’re married to an amazing guy who is an even more amazing father when he tells you that he won’t miss one day of Gray’s first year of life. And means it.
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!
I haven’t had the time to go into it here, but Gray’s sleep habits have been entertaining, at best.
He goes down for 2-3 naps a day, but bedtime has been tough, as the only place he ever seems to want to sleep is curled up in bed with us. Yes, I love every second of that but we do want him to adjust to sleeping in his own space.
No matter what time of day or night it is, when you...

Mani-Me.
I got a manicure. First one since before becoming pregnant, and it was glorious. As you can tell from this Gray A Day, it was nothing spectacular….I’m not a french manicure/acrylics/crazy graphics kind of girl.
In fact, I can count on one usually-hang-nail-tattered hand how many times, in a year I get a manicure. A manicure usually means that I’m in a wedding or needing a...

Out on the town....
…or not.
Jackson and I love to go out. Both social creatures to the nth degree, we both crave that social buzz. Going out could mean anything from a rowdy dinner out with friends, to meeting people for drinks, to heading to the bar and ending up on the dancefloor till 2am. Ooooo, I love it.
PG (Pre Gray) we were out on the town just about every weekend. Now I certainly don’t...

A new seat for the little man.
It’s almost time to say goodbye to Gray’s ‘baby’ carseat (the Chicco KeyFit 30, which we have LOVED). We’ve upgraded to a Britax Boulevard, thanks in part to the many good recommendations we got here.
I’m sad to see Gray’s sweet little seat go, as it represents his tiny little newborn days, coming home in the hospital, and so many memories from the...

Swimming!
We’re starting swim classes this weekend with the little man!
Of course the funny thing about this is that it’s not like he’s going to be perfecting his backstroke…it’s going to be the three of us and a bunch of other parents and babies, all standing around a pool bouncing and jumping and splashing…something we could do on our own and save the $75 on the...
